ABOUT THE V8 SLEUTH

ABOUT THE V8 SLEUTH PROJECT:

The V8 Sleuth project of keeping detailed chassis records of all cars that have competed in the V8 Supercars Championship, V8 Supercars Development Series and Kumho Tyres V8 Touring Car Series began way back in 2000.

With a pile of information swirling around as a young cadet journalist at Motorsport News magazine, Aaron Noonan decided to keep track of all of the cars as not much more than a hobby and personal interest.

In time, this information expanded and more and more media material – feature stories, news updates etc - was created from it as the V8 Supercar category continued to grow.

The information has been used in a range of different media outlets (V8Xtra on the Seven Network, SPEED News Australia on Foxtel, V8X, Australian Muscle Car Magazine, Speedcafe.com, Auto Action and Motorsport News to name just a few) and it wasn't until 2010 that turning all of this information into a useable resource became a reality.

At the same time, Noonan became the News Editor of the official V8 Supercars BigPond Sport website and his regular 'Saturday Sleuthing' stories focusing on the histories of select famous cars drew strong interest and became a popular regular feature of the site.

The 'V8 Sleuth' moniker and logo was born in 2011 and, after initially considering compiling all of his work in a series of hardcover books, Noonan decided to go 'high tech' and create a one-stop website in association with Pixelrock Creative with all of his information covering more than 300 V8 Supercar chassis.

The decision to create a website was born out of the ease to update and modify information and open up access all over the world to collectors, car restorers, race fans and anyone else interested in the history of these cars.
