AMBROSE PIRTEK AU FALCON CHANGES HANDS

THE Pirtek Stone Brothers Ford Falcon AU that launched Marcos Ambrose onto the V8 Supercar scene has changed hands.

The car, driven by Ambrose in his first two seasons in the category in 2001 and 2002, has been acquired by Muscle Car Warehouse and is headed to Matt Stone Racing in Queensland for the Stone brothers to give it a ‘well deserved birthday’.

That means that Muscle Car Warehouse will be home to the only two SBR cars raced by Ambrose – it has the two-time championship-winning BA Falcon that Ambrose drove to title wins in 2003 and 2004.

The AU Falcon was debuted by Ambrose at Albert Park in 2001, his debut race meeting in V8 Supercars at which he scored a surprise pole position.

He drove the car to his first round win at Hidden Valley later that season and used it to take pole position for that year’s Bathurst 1000.

Ambrose continued to race the car into 2002, finishing off its career in the ‘main game’ with a dominant round win in the final round, the V8 Ultimate, at Sandown.

It continued racing in the Development Series and Kumho Series in the following years and has been purchased from a private collector by MCW.
