ARG boss talks incoming SpeedSeries TV deal

AUSTRALIAN Racing Group majority owner Barry Rogers believes fans and competitors alike will be pleased with the soon-to-be-confirmed 2024 Shannons SpeedSeries broadcast arrangement.

While no announcement has been made as yet, it’s understood that the SpeedSeries will move away from Stan Sport and onto the Seven Network, including streaming via its 7plus digital platform.

Rogers hinted the television situation is “moving in a very positive direction” before elaborating.

“I think everyone will be very happy when they hear what it is,” he told V8 Sleuth.

“It’s certainly moving to an area where there will be more eyeballs on what goes on.

“And look, the pay-per-view TV, there’s two sides to it all… there’s advantages and disadvantages of both, I think we all get that.

“But I think it’s important that we get the product right in front of people to see what it’s all about.”

It’s also become public that there’ll be a change of category manager for TCR Australia as Ben McMellan reportedly moves into a role with SRO Motorsports Group’s new Australian arm.

“Lisa Totani has been with us, within our organisation, for three years,” Rogers said of McMellan’s replacement.

“She began on more the broadcast side. She has got a bit of a motorsport history, she’s a South Australian girl originally – and is actually living back there now – but would stand around Mallala with her dad as a young girl.

“She has looked after the S5000 crew for us this year and I think she’ll do a tremendous job with TCR.

“She’s incredibly enthusiastic, great attitude, really motivated to get things going.”

A seven-round TCR Australia calendar has been announced for next year. Josh Buchan was crowned 2023 champion at last weekend’s Bathurst International.
