Bathurst 1000 veteran joins Stan Sport line-up

STAN Sport has added to its talent pool for the inaugural Bathurst International by recruiting former Supercars veteran Andrew Jones.

Jones won the 2004 Super2 title and made 15 starts in the Great Race, and has in more recent years mixed television duties with his position as SCT Logistics’ head of motorsport.

The 42-year-old joins the likes of Michael Caruso, Fabian Coulthard and Molly Taylor in bringing experience behind the wheel to the broadcast team.

Others with a microphone in hand this weekend at Mount Panorama include Matt White, Greg Rust, Chris Stubbs, Richard Craill and Matt Naulty.

“I’ve had the pleasure of working with many of the crew on the SpeedSeries broadcast in different capacities, and it is going to be great to get back into it,” said Jones.

“Michael Caruso is competing in both TCR and GT, and I was going to Mount Panorama for the Bathurst International anyway, so when I got the call, I took the opportunity to do some stuff from the lane as well as get into the box for the GTs.

“The group of people that have been put together for the SpeedSeries commentary is terrific, and they do an amazing job.

“Matt Naulty is a class act, Rusty and Crailly are great operators, Matt White is a professional, Molly is terrific, Caruse and Fabs have been around a long time and add great insight and Stubbsie and I have done stuff before.

“When you have an opportunity to work with good people who are great at their chosen craft, it was a no brainer to slot in and have a crack. And I’d love to more of it, too.”

The Supercheap Auto TCR Australia title decider will headline the action at the Bathurst International, supported by GT World Challenge Australia, Touring Car Masters, the Turtle Wax Trans Am 100, and more.
