THE start of the 2019 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 will be the latest in the event’s long history.

Supplementary Regulations for the race have confirmed the 2019 ‘Great Race’ will begin at 11.30am local time on Sunday October 13, 15 minutes later than in recent years.

The race start time was moved to 11.15am in 2016, a start time retained for the last two years.

The race adopted a 10.00am kick-off in 1979 after the 1978 race – due to start at 9.30am as per the-then start time – was delayed to 10.00am due to fog surrounding the circuit.

The start time of the race was 10am for many years until being moved to 10.30am in 2007 – the first year of Channel 7 covering the race in the modern era – and remained at 10.30am up until 2015 when it was moved to 11.00am.

This year’s Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 Sunday schedule will see the Toyota 86 Racing Series (7.45am), Supercars Warm-Up (8.20am) Touring Car Masters (8.55am) and Porsche Carrera Cup (10.05am) all compete prior to the headline race of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

There is no time certain finish for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 – it is the only VASC race without a time certain finish.
