Brown patient as Gen3 turn looms

SITTING back watching as rivals excitedly hop in for their maiden taste of non-prototype Gen3 Supercars might seem painful; Will Brown begs to differ.

To date, eight race cars from seven different teams have completed shakedowns, with a total of 14 drivers clocking laps during those occasions.

Put to him whether that’s been difficult to observe, Brown was adamant to the contrary.

“No, not at all,” he told V8 Sleuth.

“There’s no trophy for who hits the track first.

“To be honest, I don’t think there is any advantage for when you test, as long as you get your three test days in before the first round, so not stressed at all.

“It’s great that teams have been able to build their cars like Blanchards and be able to do such a good job and get on the track but for us, we have set our dates and that’s what we’re working towards.”

The sister Coca-Cola Camaro of Brodie Kostecki is due to run at Winton Motor Raceway tomorrow, with Brown’s #9 following suit on Tuesday.

“Potentially I might do a couple of laps (tomorrow) but overall I’ll just really be in there all day annoying him, finding out what the balance is like, all that sort of stuff and watching some footage and then I’ll get my go on Tuesday,” Brown added.

Tickford Racing’s Castrol Mustang for Thomas Randle will also be in action tomorrow at Winton, with its other two shakedowns (for James Courtney and Declan Fraser) scheduled for Wednesday.

Brad Jones Racing will roll out all four of its cars on Tuesday, while Walkinshaw Andretti United, Team 18 and Grove Racing will also be at Winton this week.

The four Queensland teams (Triple Eight, Dick Johnson Racing, Matt Stone Racing and PremiAir Racing) will take to Ipswich on Tuesday.

Update: DJR, MSR and PremiAir have moved their shakedowns to Thursday February 16
