BRT signs race-winning engineer

THE Blanchard Racing Team has struck a last-minute deal to bolster its engineering department for the 2024 Repco Supercars Championship.

BRT has signed race-winning engineer Matt Saunders, in the latest piece of the puzzle to fall into place at the expanding Ford squad.

Saunders brings main game experience from Team 18 and Matt Stone Racing, having made a cameo appearance with the latter at the 2023 Darwin Triple Crown where he guided Jack Le Brocq to a special victory.

Saunders has also spent time at Triple Eight and was the engineer behind Declan Fraser’s title-winning 2022 Super2 campaign.

He will slot into an engineering support role at BRT alongside Mathew Nilsson, while Raymond Lau and Chris Fitzgerald remain as the respective race engineers for James Courtney and Aaron Love.

Among the Tim Blanchard-led squad’s other additions for 2024 are team manager Kate Harrington and veteran co-driver Jack Perkins.

The opening sessions of the season take place tomorrow as practice for the Thrifty Bathurst 500 kicks off.
