THE Castrol Motorsport News Podcast has received a top honour at this year’s Hino Supercars Media Awards.

Celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2022, the Supercars Media Awards recognise high achievement within the Australian motorsport media industry across the journalism, photography, video / TV, social media, broadcast and publications that cover the sport throughout the year.

The Castrol Motorsport News Podcast took home the award for the Best Radio Show / Podcast at Friday evening’s awards ceremony, held trackside at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Launched last October by the Motorsport Podcast Network – the publisher of the V8 Sleuth Podcast – and hosted by award-winning journalists Andrew van Leeuwen and Stefan Bartholomaeus, the Castrol Motorsport News Podcast has already drawn a substantial following with its weekly offering of news and in-depth analysis of motorsport in Australia and around the globe.

The podcast marked the return of the Motorsport News brand to the Australian motorsport media landscape since its acquisition by AN1 Media in 2021.

“It’s an honour for the Castrol Motorsport News Podcast to receive this kind of recognition from the industry with the show still in its infancy,” Aaron Noonan, AN1 Media MD and head of the Motorsport Podcast Network, said.

“We launched the podcast in October last year right at the beginning of one of the busiest periods in Australian motorsport history, and there’s no doubt it’s been a winner with the fans straight away.

“We’re appreciative of those who voted for the Castrol Motorsport News Podcast as being a worthy winner of this award and it will spur us on to continue to build and grow it during a massive 2022 season of racing.”

The Best Radio Show / Podcast award was one of three earnt by van Leeuwen at this year’s awards, who also won the Journalist of the Year and Best Supercars News Story honours for the second year in a row.

The Castrol Motorsport News Podcast releases new episodes every Tuesday afternoon.
