CAT Falcon to race in Adelaide

THE brand CAT will return to Supercars in a naming rights capacity at the upcoming Adelaide 500.

Super2 team Matt Chahda Motorsport has secured CAT Workwear as the major backer of its #18 FG X Falcon in what will be Chahda’s first competitive outing since making his Repco Bathurst 1000 debut last month.

There, Chahda’s ZB Commodore was underpinned by Caltex support, with CAT onboard in a lesser capacity.

CAT is primarily associated with John Bowe from his post-Dick Johnson Racing days.

After departing DJR at the end of 1998, Bowe spent the next three seasons steering a CAT AU Falcon for PAE Motorsport/Briggs Motor Sport.

The highlight of that period was Bowe’s 31st and final Supercars Championship race win, achieved at Queensland Raceway in 1999.

Chahda enters the Adelaide season finale seventh in the points, despite having skipped the Bathurst round to focus on his Great Race campaign.

Five drivers remain in mathematical contention for the title, with Declan Fraser 75 points clear of Zak Best at the top.

Slightly further back are Matt Payne, Cameron Hill and Tyler Everingham.
