Co-driver change for Dick Johnson Racing

DICK Johnson Racing has made a rare change to its Supercars driver line-up, promoting Kai Allen into one of its lead Shell V-Power Mustangs for the 2024 enduros.

After running the same quartet in the past three endurance campaigns, DJR has elected to name Allen as co-driver to Will Davison in the #17 entry.

That comes at the expense of Alex Davison, and follows Allen’s Repco Bathurst 1000 debut in a wildcard last year.

Stability is maintained on the other side of the garage, with Anton De Pasquale and Tony D’Alberto to stay together in the #11 Mustang after reaching the 2023 Great Race podium.

“We are delighted to have Tony and Kai join us for the 2024 season,” said DJR CEO David Noble.

“Tony has been a part of the Shell V-Power Racing Team family for nine years now.

“He and Anton are a great pairing who work exceptionally well together, their podium finish at Bathurst last year reflects that.

“Their proven track record and commitment to excellence align seamlessly with our team’s values.

“Bringing Kai into the fold with Will combines youthful enthusiasm with veteran knowledge and experience.

“I have no doubt that these two will work together to become a force on the track.

“As a team, we’re really excited to see what both of these pairings will achieve together in the 2024 season.”

Allen is gunning for back-to-back Super2 titles this season with Eggleston Motorsport.

DJR is yet to confirm whether it plans to field another wildcard car in 2024.
