DAVID Reynolds joins us for this week’s episode of the V8 Sleuth Podcast powered by Timken.
A fan favourite among the Supercars grid, Reynolds chats about his time working as both a dental technician and in the marketing department at Holden Special Vehicles – really! – as well as his rise through the ranks towards Supercars, culminating in his 2017 Bathurst 1000 victory with Luke Youlden and Erebus Motorsport.
He also opens up about the darkest period of his career.
Two weeks after securing the 2007 Australian Carrera Cup Championship, Reynolds was competing in the Mount Buller Sprint with navigator Paul Flintoft.
Their Elfin MS8 Clubman spun off the road and crashed down a 20 metre cliff, killing Flintoft and leaving Reynolds with head injuries.
In the podcast, Reynolds opens up about the impact the tragic accident had on his life and his career, and the long recovery for both his physical and mental health in the years that followed.
