Dick Johnson Racing’s big test

BUOYED by their sudden return to form in New Zealand, Dick Johnson Racing’s true test awaits this weekend.

DJR picked up three podiums across the two races at Taupō to make its slow start to the season fade into the background.

But there is a risk it’s considered merely an outlier unless the Stapylton organisation can now reproduce such pace at the Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint.

“The mood is good,” said #17 Shell V-Power Mustang driver Will Davison.

“Obviously it’s always important to have a big weekend, a double podium on the Saturday was really special.

“It’s obviously what we expect… but an important time to just get the vibes back up and get everyone to really believe in themselves because we know what we’re capable of.

“To see Anton (De Pasquale) bring home the Jason Richards Trophy as well for the team was very, very special, very cool to see.

“We have just got to keep building, not get carried away and just use it as momentum to keep working hard and see if we can back it up at a very different circuit.

“That’s going to be the real test for us.”

Davison has delivered time and again at Wanneroo, with four race wins at the circuit including a pair for Tickford Racing (both in 2012), the last ever victory for the Mercedes E63 (2015), and his first triumph since rejoining DJR (2022).
