Double duties for BJR recruit in 2023

BRAD Jones Racing has confirmed Lochie Dalton will contest the full 2023 Super2 Series, in addition to another season in Trans Am.

Dalton will race the ex-Macauley Jones Holden ZB Commodore handed down from the team’s main game program.

Of BJR’s other four ZB Commodores, race-winning chassis BJR 007’s future lies in the United Kingdom having been purchased by Holden Supercars enthusiast Alex Sidwell.

BJR could yet run a second car in Super2, although that remains to be seen.

As for Dalton, the 21-year-old produced the goods on debut at Adelaide in December, taking 12th and eighth in a field of regulars, having slotted in for Tickford Racing-bound Elly Morrow.

The Tasmanian will run #43 this season in a break from BJR’s traditional array of numbers.

“Adelaide was such an awesome opportunity and I took so much from that weekend, to get inside the top 10 in my second race was pretty special,” he said.

“I’m very excited to race the full season with BJR, I’ve learnt so much from the team already and I can’t wait to get in the car for the first time at the Winton test day.

“We get to race the car that the Supercars guys were in last year, so while fans are familiar with them they’re still a new experience for a lot of drivers. It’s going to be a very interesting year.”

BJR owner Brad Jones said: “I’m thrilled to be able to welcome Lochie back into the fold, this time for a full season in Super2.

“He’s an exciting talent and he blends well with the team.

“He performed well in Adelaide and we’re excited to be able to give him another shot this year in the ZB Commodore.”
