Double Kiwi promotion for 2024 Carrera Cup

KIWI duo Zac Stichbury and Marco Giltrap’s graduation to Porsche Carrera Cup Australia has been announced for 2024.

They will race for Earl Bamber Motorsport, Stichbury having picked up the Team Porsche New Zealand scholarship seat.

EBM and TPNZ have combined to field various rising stars in recent seasons, including Matt Payne and 2023 series leader Callum Hedge.

Both Stichbury and Giltrap are plying their trade this year in the second-tier Porsche Sprint Challenge, with the latter perched atop the standings.

“We’re proud of what both TPNZ Sprint Challenge drivers have been doing in 2023, and now looking into 2024 it’s amazing to be able to confirm Zac Stichbury and Marco Giltrap (with) the TPNZ program moving up to Carrera Cup Australia,” said EBM owner Earl Bamber.

“The program has been incredibly successful so far with all our previous drivers now stepping up as professional racing drivers.

“It’s something that we as a team and Porsche New Zealand have been proud to be part of and ultimately the reason why the program was started.

“And now we’re excited that we are opening 2024 allocations for the Porsche Sprint Challenge seat.

“This category has been really great to nurture our drivers in year one of the program, so we are excited to see what young talented drivers from New Zealand will apply for 2024.”

Stichbury said: “I’m so excited and grateful to step up into the scholarship’s main seat next year.

“It’s such an amazing opportunity and I can’t thank the team at Porsche New Zealand and EBM enough for their ongoing support and guidance.

“I’m looking forward to continuing learning and developing in these last few rounds of Sprint Challenge this year to end on a good result leading into competing alongside Marco in Carrera Cup next year.”

Added Giltrap: “I am extremely excited to be joining Team Porsche New Zealand for another season, joining Porsche Carrera Cup Australia next year.

“We have already achieved so much this year and I am looking forward to seeing what we can achieve for the rest of the 2023 and 2024 season.”

The Bend Motorsport Park will host the penultimate round of the Sprint Challenge season on October 13-15.
