Erebus names new team principal

CHAMPION Supercars squad Erebus Motorsport will have a new leader at the helm in 2024, with Brad Tremain appointed team principal.

Now a veteran with Erebus, Tremain is elevated within a hierarchy featuring owners Betty and Daniel Klimenko, CEO Barry Ryan and managing director Shannen Kiely.

Tremain joined Erebus as a number two mechanic in 2016 and was promoted to the position of crew chief in late 2020.

The latter role will now be filled by Brad Packham, while Tremain will continue to serve as car controller – not uncommon among team principals in Supercars, with Matt Stone Racing’s Pete Vale another case.

“It’s a proud moment for me to step up into the team principal role, and having the support of the whole crew means a lot,” said Tremain.

“We’ve had a really consistent crew for a number of years now and adding to that experience and drive is only going to make us stronger as we look toward the 2024 season.

“The Erebus guys and girls are all about getting stuff done, eyes on the prize, bring it on.”

Ryan explained the restructuring: “In recognising and providing opportunities for our own talent to grow within the team, we’re focused on building a winning culture.

“It’s about creating an environment where everyone has a chance to lead, keeping our team engaged and eager.

“Success isn’t just about trophies; it’s about growing together and celebrating every step of the journey.”

Set to don the #1 this year, Brodie Kostecki will again be engineered by George Commins, while recruit Jack Le Brocq inherits the #9 and its young gun race engineer Tom Moore.

Le Brocq and Erebus will compete in the 2024 Repco Bathurst 12 Hour in association with M-Motorsport, a week before the Supercars season opens on February 23-25 at Mount Panorama.
