First Gen3 team tests postponed until 2023

SUPERCARS has announced teams will not hit the track with their own Gen3 cars until 2023.

It had been planned that initial testing would begin in December after the Adelaide 500; however that had come under increasing doubt as teams continue to wait on panels and parts.

It’s now been confirmed that the first shakedown for southern teams will come on January 24, 2023 at Winton Motor Raceway.

The four Queensland-based teams will then follow suit on January 30 at Ipswich.

A second round of testing will take place at Winton on February 7 and Ipswich on February 9, before an all-in hit-out at Sydney Motorsport Park on February 22.

According to communications from Supercars, all of the above dates will be open to the public.

The revised schedule makes for a frantic lead-in to Round 1 of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship, which will take place at Newcastle across March 10-12.

The remainder of the calendar is yet to be officially confirmed by Supercars, although its place on the Australian Grand Prix undercard means Round 2 will unfold across March 30 to April 2.
