First look at DJR’s Gen3 race cars

DICK Johnson Racing has offered a first glimpse at its Gen3 Ford Mustangs via social media.

The Ford powerhouse tends to be more private than many of its Repco Supercars Championship rivals.

Brad Jones Racing has led the charge when it comes to providing insight into its Gen3 program, with a video series explaining the various differences fans can expect compared to the outgoing ZB Commodore and Gen2 Mustang.

Grove Racing has also begun giving regular updates, while the Blanchard Racing Team released images of its near complete CoolDrive Mustang at the start of the month.

Winding the clock back to 2022, Erebus Motorsport shared details with regards to the arrival and progress of its chassis, Team 18 showed off its new car at an open day, and a Matt Stone Racing Camaro with some bodywork featured in the team’s announcement of Cameron Hill’s signing.

Besides those snippets, fans have pretty well only had prototype demonstrations and livery renders to go off.

In sharing a picture from its Stapylton workshop today, DJR’s post read: “We’re back! The Shell V-Power Racing Team is back in the workshop and ready to tackle 2023.

“First on the agenda – building our Gen3 Mustang.”

DJR is the Ford homologation team for Supercars; the Mustang prototype is due to complete additional testing this week at Queensland Raceway.

DJR’s own Mustangs are scheduled to hit the track at QR for a January 30 shakedown, although widespread doubts are growing over the feasibility of that date.
