Former HRT boss lands big new gig

FORMER Holden Racing Team CEO Craig Kelly has scored one of the biggest posts in the Australian sports sector.

Kelly, a long-time ally of six-time Bathurst 1000 winner Mark Skaife’s, was central in the HRT organisation for part of the 2000s.

In 2021, he emerged as a figure in the consortium which was ultimately successful in its bid to buy Supercars, although he ended up dropping out of the final RACE structure headed by Barclay Nettlefold.

Indeed, Kelly, who is behind TLA Worldwide, was at one stage set to feature on the board of either Supercars or RACE but didn’t.

The 56-year-old has now been appointed as CEO of AFL juggernaut Collingwood.

Kelly played 122 top-level games for the Magpies and has been prominent in the competition as a leading manager of players and coaches.

With his Collingwood role starting on February 20, Kelly will step down from all other executive positions.
