TODAY’S confirmation of a Chevrolet Camaro flying the flag for General Motors in the Supercars Championship from 2022 onwards has set tongues wagging as Gen3 regulations will see the Camaro take on Ford’s Mustang.

The Camaro has a significant history in the sport in Australia – Bob Jane won back-to-back Australian Touring Car Championships in 1971 and 1972 and Kevin Bartlett took a Z28 Camaro to pole at Bathurst in both 1980 and 1981.

The V8 Sleuth team has gone for a drive down memory lane in the photo files to uncover a wide range of shots of Camaros in action in Australian touring car racing over the years.

With over 20 years in the Australian motorsport industry, Noonan is the head of V8 Sleuth. He’s held a range of roles including working in television with Seven and Ten, print media and public relations. With a specialty in Australian motorsport history, he’s known around racing paddocks as ’the Sleuth’ and started his motorsport media career in 1997.
