GALLERY: THREE GENERATIONS OF JOHNSON ON TRACK

THREE generations of Johnson have taken to Queensland Raceway aboard Shell V-Power Racing Mustangs, in a special moment for the legendary family.

Supercars Hall of Famer Dick Johnson, 77, made a return to the cockpit in order to share a racetrack with son Steven (47) and grandson Jett (17).

The trio drove a series of laps together aboard identically presented #17 Shell Mustang Supercars during an early morning track session at the Ipswich venue.

DJR billed the running as both the first and only time the three Johnsons will be on track together.

Five-time Australian Touring Car Champion Dick Johnson retired from full-time driving at the end of 1999, handing the keys of his #17 Shell Falcon to son Steven.

‘Junior’ Johnson raced full-time for DJR until the completion of the 2012 season and has spent recent years driving Team Johnson-prepared Touring Car Masters cars.

Jett meanwhile is this year embarking on his first season of national car racing in Trans Am with Team Johnson and was in action over the weekend at Sydney Motorsport Park.
