Gen3 chassis arrives at Erebus headquarters

EREBUS Motorsport has welcomed the arrival of its first Gen3 Supercars chassis to its South Dandenong workshop.

Erebus CEO Barry Ryan made the trek west to Mount Gambier on Friday to collect EM05.

It was in the South Australian town that the team’s fabricator Jimmy White pieced the PACE-supplied chassis kit together.

From there, it was ticked off by Supercars and sent off to Max Medhurst Crash Repairs to be painted.

Erebus is still waiting on a revised front clip; nevertheless Ryan hailed the progress.

“We have gone to great lengths to ensure our chassis is as perfect as it can be via the strict Gen3 rules,” Ryan said.

“Our fabricator James White led the purchase and design of a brand new Gen3 specific jig system over 18-months ago and the quality of the end result is something we are all very proud of.

“Our chassis build process is world standard, all our chassis and clips made or repaired on our jig will be extremely repeatable and 100 percent accurate.”

Assembly of the car will now begin, with Erebus picking up its first lot of Chevrolet Camaro panels this weekend on the Gold Coast, where the penultimate round of the 2022 season will play out across October 28-30.

“We want to get the car assembled as quickly as we can, though there’s still a lot of parts still to be finalised and then ordered,” said Ryan.

“The plan is to have at least one car ready to test mid-December along with all other Victorian teams.”

Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown will continue with the team next season, both having signed two-year contract extensions in July.
