How Klimenko envisages Erebus future

BETTY Klimenko has expressed her wish for Erebus Motorsport to be around for generations to come.

Despite voicing frustrations with Supercars on the eve of Erebus winning its maiden championships, Klimenko insists she’s not going anywhere as a team owner.

The outfit’s long-term future has crossed her mind, however.

“I’m staying,” she told V8 Sleuth after Brodie Kostecki sealed the 2023 drivers’ title.

“Whether I come to races or not, that’s a different thing, we’ll see how my health goes.

“It’s no secret: I have cancer, I’ve had cancer for 12 years. Some days are good, some days are not so good.

“I will always be here. But I have set the team up so it can be passed down, and it will just go on forever, hopefully, because some people deserve to run and own V8 teams because they’re so smart and they know exactly what should be done, but they don’t have the money behind them.

“And that’s why I just want this all to be passed on to the next generation, so in 25 years some little girl is standing in the factory and someone points to a picture of me and says ‘that’s the woman who started it’.”

Erebus’ first decade as a Supercars squad has been captured in a hardcover 288-page collectors’ book which is available to pre-order now.
