Ken Block tribute livery unveiled for Waters Mustang

CAM Waters will carry a bold new look into the VAILO Adelaide 500 in honour of the late Ken Block.

The popular American, who was killed in a snowmobile accident at the start of this year, attended the Adelaide 500 a decade ago and once drove a Ford Performance Racing (now Tickford) Supercar.

He was also a Monster Energy star, making for a connection with Waters who has long been sponsored by the company.

Paying homage to Block, Waters’ Gen3 Mustang has been transformed from matte black to a far more colourful scheme, complete with a number change from #6 to #43.

“Ken Block is an absolute legend of motorsport,” said Waters.

“To have the 43i foundation, which was created in honour of him, approve our car to run the inspired tribute livery, and for me to be able to race under his #43 is just epic.

“I’ll be out there doing my utmost to help celebrate Ken and aiming to stand on the top step of the podium just like he did so many times across his stellar career.

“Ken was known for delivering some epic burnouts and having the potential to send the season and Ken out with one on my very own at ‘Radelaide’ would be top drawer.”

Tickford managing director Rod Nash added: “Having the opportunity to pay tribute to Ken with our team and with Monster Energy is very fitting.

“We’re going to take a leaf out of Ken’s bag and look to go big. Winning at a track where Ken has visited in the past and with our team, would be phenomenal.

V8 Sleuth’s coverage of the VAILO Adelaide 500 is proudly presented by Bad Boy Mowersexplore the world of Bad Boy Mowers with the new Spring/Summer catalogue of high-performance mowers here.

“He was an amazing entertainer and the skills Ken demonstrated in his career over the years was simply outstanding.

“Ken is sadly missed and we hope he would have enjoyed Cam running this tribute livery around the streets of Adelaide for this weekend.”

Waters is coming off a splendid Gold Coast 500 in which he won the Saturday race and placed third in the Sunday encounter.
