KIWI ace Richie Stanaway will get to race a Supercar a little earlier than first expected with news confirmed today that he’ll drive a Prodrive Racing Australia Falcon in the next round of the Dunlop Super2 Series at Sydney Motorsport Park next weekend.

Stanaway, who has confirmed he is chasing a future in Supercars and will co-drive with Cameron Waters in the PRA-run #6 Monster Energy car in this year’s Pirtek Enduro Cup, will be competing in a solo Supercars event for the first time.

PRA already runs two entries in the Super2 Series for reigning champion Garry Jacobson and young South Australian Josh Kean.

“It is going to be a great opportunity for me to get some racing mileage without the pressure of sharing the car with another driver in the main series,” Stanaway said of his Super2 outing.

“Racing in Sydney means I will come into this year’s enduro campaign a lot better prepared than I was last year, so I am grateful for the opportunity and quite keen to see how I stack up against all the other young guys.”

Stanaway’s car will be backed by Actron Air, MEGA Fuels and All Safe with car livery to be unveiled next week.

The Kiwi has been competing for Aston Martin in international GT racing in recent years and has been a winner on the streets of Monaco in GP2 and in the German F3 Series.

He made his Supercars debut last year as Chris Pither’s co-driver in the PRA-run Super Black Racing Falcon and impressed, particularly in the wet conditions of the Sandown 500.

He will get to drive his Sydney mount at a test day tomorrow (August 8) at Winton.
