THE start time for the 2021 Repco Bathurst 1000 has been confirmed, with the legendary race set to start in the afternoon for the first time.
The 161-lap contest is scheduled to get underway at 12:15pm local time, a full 45 minutes later than in 2020, in a bid for it to finish in a primetime television slot.
Supercars is aiming to make the most of the extra evening daylight brought about by the December 5 date; pushed back from its regular October fixture due to COVID-19.
Unlike other Supercars races, there is no time-certain cut-off for the Bathurst 1000.
The race will conclude a packed six-day schedule for the event that combines Supercars, its regular supports and several Australian Racing Group categories.
As usual the Supercars track action will kick-off with practice on Thursday ahead of qualifying on Friday and the Top 10 Shootout on Saturday.
A total of six Supercars practice sessions of one hour each are spread from Thursday to Saturday; three of which will be for co-drivers only.
The Dunlop Super2 Series will compete in 100km races on both Friday and Saturday, while TCR Australia is set for one race per day from Thursday to Saturday.
There will be racing on every single day, with Tuesday’s schedule including V8 SuperUte and Touring Car Masters race action.
Supercars CEO Sean Seamer recently revealed that coverage on Fox Sports will run from Wednesday, while the free-to-air Seven broadcast is set to begin Thursday.
