THE car with which Scott McLaughlin clinched the Super2 crown a decade ago has been restored to its original livery in time for this weekend’s VALO Adelaide 500.
Car owner Jason Gomersall had previously revealed such plans to V8 Sleuth, and now the job has been completed.
Entered in Super3 under the Matt Stone Racing banner, Gomersall was a last-start class podium finisher in the abbreviated Bathurst round.

Chassis SBR FG01 is set to be retired from Super3 after the December 1-4 Adelaide event, with a possible sale even on the cards.
The FG Falcon debuted at the 2009 Adelaide 500, driven by Alex Davison for Stone Brothers Racing.
During its near two-year main game tenure, it scored a pole position and a second-place finish in separate Darwin events.
The car’s Supercars Championship time ended with a heavy crash at the 2010 Gold Coast 600 with David Brabham behind the wheel.
SBR FG01 did not race again for more than a year, until Scott McLaughlin drove it at the Sandown Super2 round in November 2011.
The following year, that very combination would go on to beat Scott Pye, Chaz Mostert and Nick Percat to the Super2 title, setting the wheels in motion for a career that has since accumulated three Supercars championships and three IndyCar race wins.
With McLaughlin joining the full-time Supercars grid in 2013, the car has since been driven by Michael Hector, Shae Davies, Matt Chahda, Gerard McLeod and, from 2019 onwards, Gomersall.
Gomersall is eighth in the 2022 Super3 standings; at the top, young guns Kai Allen and Brad Vaughan are separated by 66 points in the former’s favour.
