Metallic tweak for Castrol Mustang

TICKFORD Racing has announced a subtle livery change for Thomas Randle’s Castrol Mustang at the Gold Coast 500.

Tying in with release of a limited-edition Castrol Edge 5W-30 A3/B4 engine oil, the #55 Ford will feature metallic red accents and a switch to the Castrol Edge logo on the doors.

“To celebrate the launch of the limited edition ‘Castrol Racing’ pack of Castrol Edge, it was only fitting that we pair it with a limited-edition livery at the Gold Coast,” said Jan Willink of Castrol.

“There have been so many iconic Castrol Supercars over the years, but this design might be one of the most eye-catching of them all.

“We can’t wait to see Thomas take to the track this weekend and unlock the edge of performance in the one-off Castrol Edge Mustang!”

Randle, who suffered Bathurst heartbreak in the form of a Lap 1 crash for co-driver Zak Best, has one prior Repco Supercars Championship round start at Surfers Paradise.

On that occasion, in 2019, he teamed up with Lee Holdsworth to finish sixth in both races.

This time around, it’s a single-driver 500km event split across two races.

“I’ve been really excited to go racing on the Gold Coast this weekend, and even more so with our new look on the Castrol Racing Ford Mustang,” Randle said.

“We’ve added a little glitz to the car, and of course there’s no better place for it than on the Gold Coast, tying it in with the limited-edition ‘Castrol Racing’ pack of Castrol Edge makes it even cooler.

“I debuted a new helmet at Bathurst that includes the same artwork as the Castrol Edge pack, so it’s cool to bring everything together for what will be an unforgettable event this weekend on and off the track.”
