Morgan Park Raceway evacuated amid bushfires

MORGAN Park Raceway has been evacuated as fires close in on the Queensland circuit.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Services has issued a ‘leave immediately’ directive (as at 10:23am AEST) for the nearby Dalveen, Silverwood, Cherry Gully and The Glen suburbs.

Specifically listed as the warning area are properties between the New England Highway, Warwick Killarney Road, and Cullendore Road.

Morgan Park Raceway does fall in that catchment, at the northern junction between the New England Highway and Warwick Killarney Road.

“A large, potentially deadly fire is burning in multiple locations. It is expected to impact Morgan Park very soon,” read QFES communications.

A ‘watch and act/prepare to leave’ edict for the suburb of Morgan Park itself was issued at 6:43am AEST.

Morgan Park Raceway had been scheduled to host a track day today, but that was cancelled early this morning with the circuit conveying the evacuation order.

Located 163km southwest of Brisbane – and 111km of Queensland Raceway – Morgan Park Raceway hosted a round of the 2023 Australian Superbike Championship in July.
