Morris commits to full Trans Am season

NASH Morris is set to contend for the 2024 National Trans Am title, committing to the full season.

The 20-year-old impressed in a partial campaign last year, taking four race wins (two each at Phillip Island and Sydney Motorsport Park).

That positions him well to challenge Garry Rogers Motorsport’s high-profile contingent which now includes Supercars regulars Tim Slade and James Golding alongside 2023 champion James Moffat.

While Morris will race for Scott Taylor Motorsport in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, his Trans Am activities will remain with his family Norwell Motorplex team.

“You obviously hope to go out and be at the front, but you can’t expect that,” he said.

“Trans Am is a great category in which you can measure your driving ability against those experienced guys.

“There seem to be more and more of the professionals coming into the category, and if you can compete against them, it’s pretty cool.

“It’s a cost effective and fun form of motorsport, and a car that isn’t too complicated for us to run as a family team. It’s a very awesome car to drive and race against people.

“We’re going out and we’ll do the best job we can, have some fun, race some cool cars, and hope for the best.”

Trans Am will feature at the Shannons SpeedSeries season-opener next weekend, February 9-11, at Sandown.
