Morris extends support of WAU Toyota

WALKINSHAW Andretti United’s long-standing alliance with Morris will once again spill over into the Toyota 86 arena this year.

The finance company has extended its naming rights support of WAU’s Matt Hillyer in the renamed Toyota Gazoo Racing Australia GR Cup competition.

Hillyer last year dovetailed Toyota 86 activities with a title-winning campaign in Australian Formula Ford.

“We are so grateful for the support Morris have shown our team over the last 14 years, being able to build success together from the grassroots to the top tier of motorsport is incredible,” said WAU CEO Bruce Stewart.

“Morris’ commitment to supporting the next generation through the WAU Foundation Academy, and the future of our sport, is something we are extremely thankful for. They are so much more than a sticker on a car, they are a part of our family.

“We are really excited to see what Matt can do this year in the TGRA Cup in the Morris #2. The car looks incredible and the whole team are behind him ready for the first round in Townsville.”

All five rounds of the 2024 TGRA GR Cup will come in support of Supercars events, namely the Townsville 500, Sydney SuperNight, Sandown 500, Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 500.

“After last year’s successful 2023 TGRA 86 Series, today we are announcing our continued support for the 2024 campaign with the Morris #2 car as part of our long- term partnership with WAU and the Walkinshaw Andretti Foundation Academy,” said Damien Foster, Morris’ chief operating officer (business solutions).

“We are excited to see Matt continue to grow on the 2023 season achievements and cannot wait to see him kick off the campaign in Townsville.

“Matt Hillyer’s professionalism, hard work and dedication to WAU as a talented driver and apprentice mechanic aligns with the Morris Corporate values.

“We look forward to building success together with Matt, the WAU team and supporting the next generation of motorsport talent achieve their dreams.”
