MOSTERT LEADS THE CONTENDERS AHEAD OF BATHURST SHOOTOUT

CHAZ Mostert returned to the top of the timesheets in the final hitout prior to the Top 10 Shootout at the Repco Bathurst 1000.

The Walkinshaw Andretti United driver pipped Shane van Gisbergen by just 0.0117 of a second for the top spot in the session, with an early lap for Brodie Kostecki holding up for third place.

The rest of the top 10 comprised the Shootout contenders, all of whom did simulation runs to prepare for this afternoon’s one-lap flyers.

Anton De Pasquale was next from Will Brown, with Cameron Waters, Jack Le Brocq, Will Davison, Nick Percat and Tim Slade rounding out the top 10.

Brown and De Pasquale were the two fastest drivers in qualifying on Friday but struggled to match Mostert and van Gisbergen in the hotter, windier conditions that prevailed for Practice 6.

Kelly Grove Racing spent most of the session finishing the repairs to its #7 Ford Mustang after Matt Campbell’s bizarre Conrod Straight crash this morning.

The team completed it in time for the Porsche GT ace to head out for the final 10 minutes of the session.
