MURPHY TO BE SPECIAL GUEST AT V8 SLEUTH’S BATHURST 1000 OPEN NIGHT

FOUR-TIME Great Race winner Greg Murphy will be the special guest at V8 Sleuth’s annual Open Night event during race week at this October’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

To be held on the evening of Thursday October 6 at the National Motor Racing Museum at Mount Panorama, the annual event has proven to be a popular part of race week for motorsport fans.

Hosted by V8 Sleuth’s Aaron Noonan, the night involves a sit-down interview with the legendary Kiwi, who is making a return to Supercars racing as a wildcard entrant in this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

“I’m really thrilled to confirm that Murph will join us at this year’s V8 Sleuth Open Night,” says V8 Sleuth’s Aaron Noonan.

“He hasn’t been able to come to Bathurst since 2019 due to COVID, so it will be a real welcome back for him to a place that I know holds a very special place in his heart.

“Greg has been involved in many of the big ‘talking point’ moments at Bathurst in Supercars history, and we’ll cover them all off over the course of the night.”

Murphy won the Bathurst race in 1996 with Craig Lowndes for the Holden Racing Team, in 1999 with Steve Richards for Gibson Motorsport and in 2003 and 2004 with Rick Kelly for Kmart Racing.

The Kiwi has made 22 starts in the Bathurst 1000 after debuting in an Orix-backed Toyota Carina two-litre car in 1994.

A two-time Bathurst 1000 pole-sitter, Murphy has scored eight Bathurst 1000 podium finishes and won the Bathurst 24 Hour for Holden in 2003.
