NASCAR-inspired look for GRM Trans Am

GARRY Rogers Motorsport has rolled out a NASCAR-style livery for Edan Thornburrow as he swaps into the 2023 runner-up chassis.

The 20-year-old will drive the Ford Mustang campaigned last year by Lochie Dalton, who wound up as champion James Moffat’s closest challenger.

Thornburrow will also take on Valvoline major backing, represented in a scheme inspired by the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series livery of Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron.

“The opportunity to represent Valvoline is very exciting, and I know the crew are going to give me an excellent car just like last year,” said Thornburrow, who GRM recruited ahead of the 2023 season.

“Last year was a great learning experience in working with a team, it was the first year I’ve had that, being able to bounce off teammates, share video and data and have that group of people around me.

“It’s pretty unique, the amount of laps I’ve done in these cars is right up there, but a lot of the others have a lot more experience outside of Trans Am. Hopefully those miles in Trans Am machinery will give me a bit of an edge this year.

“Adelaide is the only round I didn’t do, and I was so bummed out watching that on the TV. I really can’t wait to get there at the end of the year and get a look at my first street circuit as well.”

The seven-round Trans Am season opens on February 9-11 at Sandown.
