New multi-round backer for Pye

TEAM 18’s in-form Car #20 will take on a dash of green for the Bathurst 1000 and Gold Coast 500 rounds next month.

It comes as Alspec is announced as the ZB Commodore’s new naming rights sponsor, just in time for a final pre-Bathurst hitout today at Winton Motor Raceway.

Primary driver Scott Pye enters the Great Race on a six-race streak of top 10 finishes.

He’ll have Super2 Series race winner Tyler Everingham as his co-driver.

“We’re looking forward to Australia’s premier Supercar race and it’s great to have an innovative partner in Alspec who are an Australian-owned company and source their products locally,” said Pye, who was runner-up in both the 2017 and 2018 Bathurst 1000s.

“Excited for Bathurst, it’s a track everyone looks forward to going to and to see everyone’s face when we revealed the car made it all the more special, so I’m looking forward to getting up to The Mountain next week.

“Our preparation for the great race has been really good, for us as a group it’s been a huge focus of ours for a long time.

“This season has had its challenges so we like to focus on Bathurst and try and turn our season around with a fantastic result there.

“For me personally, having finished second there a couple of times, I don’t really want to do that again.

“I’d love to stand on the top step, and to do it with Tyler and Alspec would be a really great feeling come Sunday afternoon.

“The car looks fantastic, I saw the renders a little bit earlier and to see it come to life is really cool.

“The car looks great, the green works well, one of my most successful go karts was bright green so I’m excited to have that back on board and I just can’t wait to get it on track at The Mountain.”

The Alspec deal runs up until the penultimate event of the season, with a sponsor for the Adelaide 500 finale yet to be confirmed.
