Onus on MSR to maintain live pitlane position

MATT Stone Racing is challenging itself to maintain its strong Bathurst 500 form across the full 2024 Repco Supercars Championship.

MSR has started well in each of the past two seasons, only for its results to fade across the year.

A double top 10 for Nick Percat and fifth in the Saturday race at Mount Panorama for Cameron Hill has MSR currently third in the teams’ standings, only behind Triple Eight and Grove Racing.

It won’t get to fully reap the rewards of the new-for-2024 live pitlane concept at Albert Park though, given Supercars won’t have pitstop races at the March 21-24 event.

“It’s going to be great at Grand Prix to be right up the top end of ‘tent lane’ and next to the heavy hitters. That’s going to be great,” team owner Matt Stone told V8 Sleuth.

“Now that we know we’re there, it’s up to us to stay there.

“Definitely for us it’s about trying to maintain that momentum.

“We’ll see if we can have a strong Grand Prix and try to get as far up pitlane as we can for when we go to New Zealand.”

The next pitstop races will come at Round 3, the Taupo Super400, in April.

Percat and Hill are sixth and 12th respectively in the drivers’ championship.
