OPEN DAY TO TAKE FANS UP CLOSE TO FAMOUS PERKINS CARS

PERKINS Engineering is throwing open its doors to race fans to view its historic race cars up close later this month.

Larry and Jack Perkins will be on hand at the current PE workshop on Saturday July 30 from 9.30am to 1.00pm in the western suburbs of Melbourne, providing the first opportunity for the public to see the progress on some special cars.

Fans will get an up-close look at the 1993 Bathurst 1000-winning Castrol Commodore VP (chassis PE 017, the last Holden-powered ‘Great Race’ winner) as well as the third-place 1994 Bathurst 1000 Castrol VP (PE 019), both cars driven by Larry Perkins and Gregg Hansford.

Also on hand will be Larry’s Bathurst 1000 car – the #11 Castrol Commodore VY he shared in 2003 with Steve Richards (PE 041) – and Jack’s 2015 Gold Coast 600-winning Holden Racing Team Commodore VF (WR 020).

Both Larry and Jack will be on hand to sign autographs and take photos with fans.

The day will also provide an opportunity for fans to purchase a range of Perkins Engineering merchandise and memorabilia including PE hats, t-shirts, parts, picture frames, workshop signs, memorabilia, tools and equipment – Jack tells us that everything must go!

The V8 Sleuth team will also be on site for the day with our range of books, DVDs and pre-owned items available at special prices – we’ve even found a few spare Perkins Engineering chassis history books that will be available to buy on the day.

Entry for the day is via a gold coin donation to the Stroke Foundation and the address will be provided via Perkins Engineering and V8 Sleuth’s social media accounts closer to the event.
