PITHER’S EARLY V8 OPENER AT SYDNEY MOTORSPORT PARK

NEW PremiAir Racing Supercar driver Chris Pither will get to race a V8 at Sydney Motorsport Park a few weeks earlier than his Repco Supercars Championship rivals when he lines up as part of the MARC Cars team this weekend.

Pither will share one of the team’s MARC II V8s with team owner Geoff Taunton in the Super GT 4 Hour run as part of the opening round of the Australian Motor Racing Series.

Teams will practice on Friday with qualifying, a Top 10 Shootout and evening race to be run on Saturday.

MARC Cars’ stand-alone category within the AMRS is set to debut at the next round at The Bend.

“I am looking forward to getting back out on track this weekend, especially with Chris onboard.,” says Taunton.

“It was a great event last year and we are looking forward to a strong result this year.”

The MARC Cars Australia team will also debut a new MARC Mazda V8 chassis in the hands of Darren Currie and Frank Mammarella.

Freshly built over the Christmas break it’s been dubbed ‘Red Bull Ring’ and is the 18th first generation MARC Car to be built by the team.

MARC Cars will also run a car for Axle Donaldson/Treigh Maschotta and provide a return to racing for Jake Camilleri, who returns to racing in his newly acquired MARC Mazda V8 that has just returned to Australia after time in the USA. He’ll share with the experienced John Goodacre.
