Porsche champion’s change of tack for 2024

HARRI Jones has decided against driving for his own team, instead opting to join the growing firepower at Porsche Centre Melbourne Motorsport.

The 2022 Carrera Cup Australia champion announced in October that he’d contest the full ‘24 season with Jones Motorsport after a partial campaign last year.

Jones spent a chunk of 2023 overseas, racing in Porsche Supercup and Carrera Cup Germany before returning home.

But a change of plans will see his bid for a second title come with PCMM, where he’ll join Fabian Coulthard in a high-profile two-driver roster under the watch of team principal Matt Cook.

“I’m very excited to be back full-time in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia and to be racing with PCMM,” said Jones.

“The team have the right attitude and all out approach towards the championship this year and I’m sure our combined knowledge and experience will achieve great results on track.

“A year abroad racing at the pinnacle of the Porsche one-make series has sure opened my eyes to what is possible with these cars and I’m hungry to fight for another championship this year.”

Cook, previously team principal of Supercars squad PremiAir Racing, welcomed Jones’ addition.

“We are very excited to announce Harri Jones will be joining PCMM for the 2024 Carrera Cup Championship,” he said.

“Harri’s expertise and wealth of knowledge behind the wheel speaks volumes.

“His experience driving these cars is on a global scale and I have no doubt he will be ultra-competitive from the very first race meeting at the AGP.

“Harri is the perfect example of the modern young professional driver and he will fit well into our team.”

Round 1 of Carrera Cup Australia will take place next month at Albert Park (March 21-24) in support of the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix.
