Red Bull Gen3 Camaro to cut Bathurst laps

A FORMULA 1 car isn’t the only Red Bull machine set to lap Mount Panorama on Saturday at the Bathurst 12 Hour.

A Red Bull-liveried Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro Supercar has been spied at the circuit, with the above image posted on Twitter.

It’s understood the car is the Supercars-owned prototype rather than one of Triple Eight’s as yet unseen race cars for the upcoming season.

The prototype has been switched from its regular black Chevrolet hues to a generic Red Bull ‘testing’ livery for the demo laps.

Red Bull Ampol Racing’s full season livery is not expected to be revealed until closer to the Newcastle season opener.

Shane van Gisbergen is expected to take the wheel of the Camaro today, likely sharing the circuit with the F1 car as part of the promotion.

Fellow Kiwi, 20-year-old Red Bull Junior Liam Lawson, will be at the controls of the F1 machine, which is an RB7 from the 2011 season.

The F1 car did not appear at Mount Panorama until this morning following a range of filming commitments elsewhere.

Red Bull stunt plane pilot Matt Hall will also be in action during the energy drink giant’s Bathurst extravaganza.

Coincidentally, the Red Bull F1 team this morning announced a major new partnership with Ford.
