Six-round V8 SuperUtes calendar for 2023

THE Haltech V8 SuperUte Series has been confirmed as a support category at both the Sandown 500 and Repco Bathurst 1000 next year.

A six-round 2023 calendar has been released, the bulk of which will unfold in the later part of the year.

The season will open in late April at Perth but will only really pick up pace once Round 2 arrives on July 28-30.

There, it will be part of the Repco Supercars Championship card at Sydney Motorsport Park, before following the main game to The Bend, Sandown, Bathurst and the Gold Coast.

“What a highlight to be supporting both Supercars enduros next year,” said category manager Luke Sieders.

“It’s a testament to how much the category is cementing itself as a genuine stepping stone for young drivers.

“We had a great 2022 with six different overall winners at six different rounds; you can’t get more competitive than that which has piqued a lot of interest for next year, to be honest.

“We’re on track for a record number of more than 20 entries at our first round in Perth, which is fantastic.

“We’ve done a lot of hard work this year to finetune the category regarding media exposure, fan activations and operations.

“The aim is to not just build a strong category but be a leader in market relevance as well.

“The twin-cab ute spectator base is super passionate and supportive of what we’re doing, so racing across five different states and with some new rounds in 2023 will help us grow even more.”

Aaron Borg won the 2022 V8 SuperUte title and has since set his sights on a move into the Dunlop Super2 Series.
