Slade to don milestone number in Perth

TIM Slade will switch out his regular #23 for #200 at this weekend’s Bosch Power Tools Perth SuperSprint.

PremiAir Racing has confirmed the change, in celebration of Slade’s 200th Supercars Championship round start.

The 38-year-old becomes the 22nd driver in category history to achieve the feat and is the fifth among the active field to do so (joining Mark Winterbottom, Will Davison, James Courtney and David Reynolds).

Slade debuted at the 2009 Adelaide 500 for Paul Morris Motorsport and has since had stints at Stone Brothers Racing/Erebus Motorsport, Walkinshaw Racing, Brad Jones Racing, the Blanchard Racing Team and now PremiAir (plus a co-drive at Dick Johnson Racing in 2020).

Career highlights two race wins, 17 podiums, two pole positions, and a top-five championship ranking in 2012.

Besides his race number, there’ll be another change for Slade at Wanneroo Raceway, with Ludo Lacroix taking over from Mirko De Rosa as his race engineer.

“Ludo has had some great success in the west in the past, including 14th to first with Craig Lowndes in 2016 and 18th to first with Scott McLaughlin in 2018,” said PremiAir team manager Stephen Robertson.

“He tells us that he loves Perth, and with the steps made forward at the GP and at Taupo, I can tell you things are feeling quite positive on that side of the garage ahead of this event.”

The #200 last appeared in Supercars at the 2019 Phillip Island SuperSprint, on the Walkinshaw Andretti United Commodore of Scott Pye.
