Stewart to race on 2024 Formula 1 undercards

MADELINE Stewart is bracing for her graduation into Porsche Carrera Cup North America next year following a solid first season abroad.

Having sealed third overall in the 992 Pro-Am class in Porsche Sprint Challenge North America, the 23-year-old Kiwi was always due to be stepping up in 2024 per a two-year agreement with JDX Racing.

A bumper program awaits, with three of the eight Carrera Cup North America rounds to take place at Formula 1 events.

Stewart will race on the F1 undercard at Miami (May 3-5), Montreal (June 7-9) and Circuit of the Americas (October 18-20).

The other rounds will all be in support of IMSA, at Sebring, Watkins Glen, Road America, Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Road Atlanta.

“Our program for next year is starting to come together,” said Stewart.

“Carrera Cup will be another big step for me, but now having a year of racing in the USA under my belt, I’m excited to draw on that experience.

“It is an extremely competitive series, racing at some very high-profile events and I feel up to the challenge.

“We have secured around a third of the funding for next year and are working hard to find the remainder before testing starts in February.”

Two Australians appeared in Carrera Cup North America this year, led by Tom Sargent who finished as championship runner-up.

Sargent narrowly beat Ryan Wood to the 2022 Sprint Challenge Australia title; Wood will next year race for Walkinshaw Andretti United in Supercars.

Gold Coast round winner Bayley Hall also contested the last two rounds of the 2023 US Carrera Cup series.
