Super2 driver scores first Gen3 laps

THERE was a new face behind the wheel of a Matt Stone Racing Chevrolet Supercar yesterday, with Cameron Crick called up for his first Gen3 laps.

Queensland teams yesterday headed out to Ipswich for a ride day, little more than a week on from their Victorian counterparts having done so off the back of the Gold Coast 500.

Teams routinely bring both their primary and co-drivers to such occasions to share the workload, and with Jayden Ojeda overseas ahead of a Mercedes Young Driver Test, a vacancy opened up in the #34 Truck Assist Camaro.

Crick got the chance and relished the opportunity.

Having graduated from Toyota 86s and SuperUtes, the 26-year-old is in his second Super2 season and has showed signs of progress with Eggleston Motorsport.

In an ultra-competitive field, Crick qualified well inside the 10 at Perth, Townsville and Sandown and recorded a second-place finish on the streets of north Queensland.

Among other notable happenings from the Queensland Raceway ride day was Aaron Seton taking his father Glenn for a hot lap in his Gomersall Motorsport ZB Commodore.
