Supercars teammates reunited with title-winning cars

MATT Stone Racing teammates Jack Le Brocq and Cameron Hill have been reunited with the Formula Ford cars which powered them to pivotal titles in their journey to Supercars.

Australian Formula Ford is supporting the Repco Supercars Championship this weekend at the Ned Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint at Symmons Plains.

That puts Hill on double duties, both as driver of the #35 Truck Assist Camaro and owner of his CHE Racing Team.

Of the three cars which CHE fields, one is the chassis in which Le Brocq won the 2012 title (now driven by Imogen Radburn) and another was behind Hill’s 2015 triumph (now in the hands of Lachlan Strickland).

“It’s pretty cool to be reunited with my old car, I actually haven’t seen it since 2012 when I won the championship in it with Minda Motorsport,” said Le Brocq.

“It’s funny, I was asking around last year about where it was and funnily enough Cam had it in his team.

“It’s pretty cool to see it here in the flesh – it’s a different colour than it was back in the day, it used to be red when I drove it.

“They were awesome cars to pedal around and I’d love to get back in the seat one day.”

Hill added: “I always knew that one of the cars in our team was Jack’s and so now for him to be my teammate at MSR and for us to stand together next to both our championship-winning cars was a cool thing.

“For Lachlan, Zak (Lobko), and Imogen I think it’s so cool that they can see that the progression is there – they’re looking at JLB and I that are in the main game of Supercars and the cars we won the championship in are exactly the same cars as they are driving now in Formula Ford.

“It shows that if they stick to the path there’s a future there for them.”

While Formula Ford got its weekend underway with a pair of practice sessions before qualifying (topped by Borland Racing’s Xavier Kokai), Supercars action will begin tomorrow.
