Team 18 unveils Pye’s livery for Tasmania

THE latest look for Scott Pye’s Chevrolet Camaro has been revealed in the build-up to the Ned Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint.

Team 18 is using a rolling sponsorship model for its #20 entry this year, with East Coast Car Rentals the next to step up into a naming rights capacity at Symmons Plains.

That has triggered the addition of yellow to the Pye car, and the deal will involve branding on the #18 sister Camaro of Mark Winterbottom for the rest of the year.

“We are thrilled to welcome East Coast Car Rentals as the official car rental partner of Team 18,” said team owner Charlie Schwerkolt.

“This partnership is a great fit for us and the motorsport industry as a whole.

“Supercars is a travelling circus and there are thousands of people involved that rely on rental cars around the country, so it’s exciting to have the support of East Coast Car Rentals which will provide outstanding value to our partners, members and fans.”

The arrangement is something of a dream come true for East Coast Car Rentals director Rohan Marx.

“I’ve been a fan of Aussie Supercars since I was a kid watching great Bathurst and Wellington Street Circuit races on TV in a small town in New Zealand, so I am very proud and excited that 40 years on we have been able to align ourselves with Team 18 for a successful 2023,” said Marx.

Pye hopes to kickstart the partnership in style.

“It’s great to welcome onboard East Coast Car Rentals as a new partner to the team and to see them onboard my #20 Camaro in Tasmania,” he said.

“They’re a new partner to the sport which is exciting, and we’ll be sure to give it everything to deliver them a strong result in Tasmania.

“Symmons Plains should produce plenty of action with the new Gen3 cars.

“It’s a bullring circuit and after the margins we sure in Perth I expect the competition to be closer than ever in Tasmania.

“We had a pretty strong round last year with two top 10s, so we’ll work to build on that this year.”

The Symmons Plains round takes place across May 19-21.
