The Bend celebrates biggest crowd in five years

THE Bend Motorsport Park has kicked off its new era in style, reporting its second-biggest ever crowd across the weekend.

Officially renamed as the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in line with a 10-year naming rights deal, the latest OTR SuperSprint played host to two days of Supercars action plus a Friday dedicated to support categories.

All up, a total attendance of 41,237 was recorded.

That represents a 9.6 percent lift compared to last year (37,636) and the best turnout since its maiden Supercars round back in 2018.

“This is a proud event and we are thrilled that the public continues to support it alongside the year round activity at our venue as we continue to put South Australia on the world motorsport map,” said The Bend managing director Sam Shahin.

“I would like to thank South Australians and interstate travellers for backing our event and we hope you enjoyed the stellar conditions.”

There were several additions for the 2023 edition, including the relocation of the podium and most notably a Rocking the Murray concert on Saturday night featuring The Choirboys and Kingswood.

“We doubled our interstate attendance on last year and successfully executed several new innovations so we cannot wait to come back and do it all when Supercars return to the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park in 2024,” added The Bend CEO Alistair MacDonald.
