The heritage behind a Kiwi star

PAUL Radisich is a beloved New Zealand motorsport figure with an enviable driving resume from around the world.

But with a surname that tripped up many, how did he come to be a Kiwi icon?

Radisich touched on his Croatian heritage in Part 1 of his V8 Sleuth Podcast powered by Castrol episode, released during the week.

“So my grandparents, they escaped from the war, travelled around the world and somehow ended up in New Zealand and did all of the gum mining and things like that,” he said.

“Then they moved to a farm and had a family, and that’s where we appear.”

Radisich, 61, revisited his roots with a maiden trip to Croatia last year.

A multiple race winner in both the British Touring Car Championship and V8 Supercars, he opens up on all aspects of his career in the two-part episode, accessible below.
