THIS weekend on RPM on Channel 10, V8 Sleuth’s Aaron Noonan gets up close and personal with the Nations Cup-spec Lamborghini Diablo SVR.

The 5.7-litre V12 racer was driven by Paul Stokell in the 2000 and 2001 Nations Cup series, claiming a total of 18 race wins along the way before it was replaced by the GTR model late in 2001.

Later raced by Sam Newman in 2003, the SVR is now owned by a private collector in Melbourne and forms a special part of this weekend’s Lamborghini special episode of RPM.

Returned to its 2001 Nations Cup #666 Wilkinson Sword livery, the Diablo was perhaps the bannerhead car of the PROCAR-run category, claiming the round win at Mount Panorama, Bathurst in 2000.

It was also driven by Stokell and Steven Johnson in the 2001 Sandown 500, dominating the race before it broke a wishbone at half race distance while out in front.
