Thomas/Brook seal $20,000 Darwin crown

DYLAN Thomas and Tim Brook have been crowned TA2’s Kings of the North after collecting the most points across a world-first Darwin event format.

Never before had a two-driver TA2 race been run until Sunday at Hidden Valley.

Thomas and Brook took the honours amid confusion in that outing.

But while the 35-lap feature final yesterday went the way of Mark Crutcher/Jordan Cox, it was Thomas/Brook who accrued the most points across the six races (four solo sprints plus the two enduros).

Thomas explained strategy had been critical to their success.

“The boys had done some calculations over the weekend,” said the CXC Racing Mustang driver.

“A lot of people had put focus on the last race but as there was five races prior to this big race we thought if we could do a lot of the work in terms of point collection the last race was (not) critical for us.

“All we had to do was finish the race.

“Tim did an awesome job in his stint, we played our own race and tried to stay out of trouble.

“We are both stoked to come away with $20,000 and the TA2 King of the North title.”

Thomas/Brook ended up on 321 round points, well clear of nearest rivals Jackson Rice and Tyler Everingham (288).

The TA2 Muscle Car Series resumes at Queensland Raceway on June 2-4.
