Trans Am team names Everingham replacement

DREAM Racing Australia has announced the newest member of its National Trans Am Series roster, promoting Jackson Rice ahead of this weekend’s Winton round.

The team with which Nathan Herne won the 2021 crown had a ‘TBC’ next to one of its three Chevrolet Camaros following Tyler Everingham’s mid-season defection to The Racing Academy.

Tickford Racing co-driver Everingham has taken over the #29 seat previously occupied by fellow Super2 race winner Jaylyn Robotham for Round 3 of the season.

Rice meanwhile moves up from DRA’s TA2 Muscle Car Series program, from which he is coming off a solid run last weekend at Queensland Raceway. He’s already tasted TA2 success earlier this year at Winton also.

The Wodonga product joins Josh Webster and team owner Craig Scutella in the three-pronged DRA line-up, but will steer a Ford Mustang backed by Mudtamer.

“It’s tough and tight in National Trans Am, with a lot of quick guys, so it will be good to come off the back of Queensland to have another run,” said Rice.

“We’ll do some testing, continue the development of the car and pitch myself against some really fast drivers to add to my experience.

“We’ve had three rounds there before in the TA2 Muscle Car Series, which is handy.

“I’ve done a lot of miles around there as it is my home track, we’ve done a lot of testing and development at Winton, so I’m confident with the circuit. It’ll be interesting to see where we sit in the field.

“To come home with a straight car as well as to show we can be competent and fast is the main goal for me.”

Trans Am is one of seven categories on the Winton SpeedSeries bill this weekend, joining TCR Australia, Touring Car Masters, S5000, Kumho V8 Touring Cars, National Sports Sedans and the Australian Formula Ford Series.
